Words, Words, Words…
By Rahul Singh

Words, words, words…
Why do we always forget
that poetry is as much
about words as it is
about meanings, feelings
and whatever crap they
blabber about to sell their work?
Words cry-
wail at the first sign of pain.
Words laugh-
guffaw at the first possibility of joy.
Words chatter, words matter
Words tell the truth
Words lie
Words live
Words die
Words fall in love, words betray
Words travel, words stay
Words are young, words are old
Words are shy, words are bold.
Sometimes words are not enough
Sometimes they’re just too many
With a keen eye if you see
Words too have history.
Then why do we always forget
that poetry is as much
about words as it is
about meanings, feelings?
Poetry without meaning
is bad poetry,
Poetry without words
is no poetry.
Then why do we ignore
the power of words
to summon meanings,
evoke feelings?
